Seizing the Eastern Frontiers: SPU gets into an MOU with The Cultural Council of The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Collaboration is undoubtedly one of the key pillars for the tremendous growth exhibited at St. Paul’s University (SPU) over the years. On Wednesday 28th June, St. Paul’s yet again got into another Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Cultural Council of The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran during a meeting attended

by top university’s management led by the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Canon Prof. James Kombo and a high delegation from the Iranian Embassy, at the main campus in Limuru. Preceded by an in-depth discussion of the terms of collaboration and all other applicable information, the signatories meticulously appended their signatures to the well-bound copies of the MOU. Wrapped in magnificently embroidered SPU branded leather wallets, the documents clearly spelt the terms of engagement in joint academic research, inter-faith dialogue, and opportunities for students and faculty exchange programmes.

This would go a long way in advancing research programmes for SPU as well as Iranian Universities; interfaith dialogue-an initiative that promotes peaceful coexistence among people with different religions as well as appreciation of diversity in religion; lay a foundation for student and staff exchange programme. Further, the collaboration would link Iranian institutions of higher learning and religious institutions to SPU and establish an Iranian Corner and Persian language studies.

St. Paul’s has previously worked with the embassy of Iran I organizing and executing conference on inter-religious dialogues that brought together participants from all walks of life to deliberate on the subject; campaigns advocating for peaceful existence and other humanitarian initiatives. We look forward to a fruitful engagement with the Iranians.
