On Friday, January 16th, the St. Paul’s University Library was honored to host a distinguished delegation from Book Aid International (BAI). The visit served as a powerful moment to reflect on the impact of quality educational resources and to chart a course for a more literate and empowered future.
The University Librarian, Madam Irene Kibandi, alongside Janet Njoora and the dedicated library team, warmly received Alison Tweed, Chief Executive of Book Aid International, who was accompanied by the Africa Regional Team, Mr. James Kimani and Carolyne Kayoro.
Assessing Impact: From Pages to Practice
The primary focus of the visit was to assess the utilization of high-quality Health Sciences books donated by BAI. These resources were instrumental during the launch of our Nursing Programme, providing our students with the foundational knowledge required to excel in the medical field.
During the tour, the BAI team witnessed firsthand how these books have become vital tools for our students, bridging the gap between theoretical study and clinical excellence.
A Shared Vision for 2026
The partnership between SPU and Book Aid International is rooted in a shared belief: that books have the power to change lives. The visit wasn't just a look back at past successes; it was a strategic step forward. Productive discussions were held regarding:
- Strengthening Resource Distribution: Ensuring more specialized titles reach our growing student body.
- Expanding the Partnership in 2026: Exploring new avenues to support other departments and research initiatives across the university.
- Sustainability: Maintaining the longevity and relevance of the library’s collection.
A Word of Thanks
We extend our deepest gratitude to Alison Tweed and the entire Book Aid International team for their continued support. Their contribution does more than fill shelves; it fuels the dreams of future nurses, doctors, and healthcare leaders.
As we look toward 2026, the SPU Library remains committed to providing an environment where knowledge is accessible and excellence is nurtured.
"A library is the heart of a university, and partnerships like these ensure that heart beats with the most current and impactful knowledge available." — Madam Irene Kibandi, University Librarian.
