The new year has began with good fortune for the SPU community! The Bishop Okullu Memorial Library received a boost to the large reservoir of study materials through a donation of books courtesy of Books Abroad. The consignment comprised of books for diverse fields of study: Theology, Medicine and Business among others. The Theology-books donation was courtesy Prof. Robin Barbour’s family. We appreciate Prof. Robin Barbour for his kind gesture.
The consignment, whose shipment was facilitated by the donors in conjunction with ACME-Limuru contained books that would not only benefit the university but also Primary and High Schools in Limuru Sub-county. It was officially received by Prof. Peter Ngure, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs; Dr. Zablon Bundi, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration; Prof. Chosefu Chemorion, the Dean, Faculty of Theology; and Mrs. Irene Kibandi, the University Librarian among other members of staff. The Library, through the University Librarian’s leadership will oversee distribution of the books to the schools around on need basis. This is part of the Library’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives aimed at empowering scholars through facilitating acquisition of knowledge.
St. Paul’s University has benefited from a number of donations from Books Abroad in the recent years, whose impact was not only felt within the SPU community but also neighboring schools. In addition to books the Library boasts a large reservoir of e-resources: e-books, journals, databases, photo and video galleries.
