St. Paul’s University will play host to the Global Entrepreneurship Conference in January 2018.
The GET (Global Entrepreneurship Training) is a week-long, short-term, intensive training program on entrepreneurship usually held in developing countries intended to offer prospective global leaders of developing countries an opportunity to experience and learn about entrepreneurship. Through the program, the participants will be able to taste the entrepreneurial spirit, learn the basic skill-set necessary to start a new business as an entrepreneur, participate in business competitions learning how to compare their plans with others’ in the class, and have a chance to form a network with participants from other countries for possible multi-national ventures in the future.
The first offering was held at Handong Global University with 27 trainees form 22 countries around the world. Since there have been other programs in developing countries with partner universities such as SPU.
The Global Entrepreneurship Program is a UNESCO and Korean Government-sponsored program to help build the capacity for sustainable development among developing countries. Its purpose is to help develop entrepreneurship mindset in the people in developing countries. The original goal of the GEEP was to develop a series of short-term intensive training programs for entrepreneurship and offer them as both on-site and off-site training as a detonator of the capacity building process and the GET program being offered now is a result of it.
