The Diploma in Journalism Programme introduces students to the general principles of Communication before delving into the various aspects of journalism. The programme is geared towards producing professionals who can work either as reporters, presenters, producers, editors among other positions.

• To enable students to understand the journalism field and acquire skills and competencies required of a journalist.
• To enable the student to comprehend the challenges facing today‘s journalism professional and learn how to surmount these challenges.

Face to Face learning

The programme will be delivered through lectures, seminars, class discussions, case studies, field trips and class exercises.

Virtual / Distance and e-learning

The programme is delivered virtually through robust e-learning platforms that facilitate students’ interactions with self-instructional material such as study modules, multimedia prepared by lectures, online assessments and online interactive devices. The platforms also facilitate virtual student-lecturer interactions.

Blended learning

A combination of face-to-face and virtual learning.

Admission into the Diploma program will be subject to the general regulations of St. Paul’s University. Specifically, those intending to seek admission for the course will be expected to meet the following criteria:

• A minimum KCSE grade C- or
• “O” Level division III with a minimum of 38 points with 6 credits, one of which must be either in English Language or Literature in English. or
• "A‟ Level with 2 principal passes. or
• D+ in KCSE with additional one-year certificate or above from a college.
