On January 13, 2025, the historic grounds of St. Paul’s University came alive with the buzz of new students and their parents. The amphitheater was the center of a heartwarming welcome, setting the stage for the January 2025 intake. This was no ordinary day, it was the start of an academic journey that promises to

mold minds and shape futures. The event kicked off with a vibrant meeting that brought together the new students, their parents, and the university’s top leadership. Rev. Daniel Kirienye, the spirited Dean of Students and Master of Ceremonies led the programme with energy and charm. “Here at SPU, we don’t just shape minds, we mold lives,” he declared, setting an engaging tone for the day.

Mrs. Bahati Gatere, from the Corporate Affairs Department, took the stage early on, captivating the audience with her insights. “St. Paul’s University is not just a place of learning; it is a legacy. For 121 years, we have been living our motto: ‘Servants of God and Humanity,’” she said passionately. Her words resonated deeply with the parents, many of whom nodded in agreement as she highlighted SPU’s values and why it is known as “Your University of Choice!”

Prof. Abraham Waithima, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, addressed the students with a candid message. “University life is not like high school. Forget the bell ringing to remind you of classes. Here, it’s about focus, determination, and meeting deadlines,” he said. His words, firm yet encouraging, emphasized the self-discipline needed for success.

Following the meeting, students and parents were treated to a high tea session, a unique opportunity to engage informally with the university’s leadership. The Rev. Canon Prof. James Kombo, the Vice-Chancellor, took center stage during this session. With a mix of authority and warmth, he welcomed the students and parents into the SPU family. “Here, you will grow not just academically but as individuals ready to serve God and humanity. Remember, you have chosen not just any university but your university of choice,” he stated, his words drawing applause and leaving a lasting impression.

The Vice-Chancellor’s address underscored SPU’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, reaffirming its status as a beacon of education and service. His inspiring message set the tone for the new students’ journey, blending optimism with a call to responsibility.
