Programme Overview
Introduction
The Diploma in Counseling Psychology is a programme that equips the trainee with the knowledge and skills of psychological counseling. The practical skills and theoretical basis for practice move from first interview, assessment, management of the counseling process, and techniques of counseling with the goal of personal transformation, and dynamics of termination. All clinical training requires reflection and action in the relational context and theoretical underpinning; the practicum is used as an essential tool. To these ends and goals, this program is developed to meet persons at their multiple points of need.
Programme Objectives
The goals of the programme are to enable the graduates to:
- To equip participants with skills and knowledge that will enable them to engage in an effective way in community development and more or so within the counties.
- To develop, implement and evaluate programmes to eradicate poverty and inequality in communities.
- Assess the effect of their facilitation and empowering management skills in the holistic context of community development.
- To give participants a positive educational experience that will contribute to their life choices and motivate them towards further learning along the same line.
