The Bachelor of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education is designed for teachers, supervisors and managers of early childhood development programme. It is an intervention program aimed at equipping learners with knowledge, skills and a positive attitude towards promoting holistic development of a child as a means of realizing the child’s full potential in all aspects.

Learners will be trained to apply knowledge on child growth and development in a pre-school setting to enable them start up academic, pastoral and growth monitoring and promotion programmes that support the child's holistic development.

To produce professionally qualified teachers, supervisors and pre-school managers who will be able to understand the growth and developmental stages of the child so as to promote development of his/her personality, talents and mental and physical abilities to his/her fullest potential.

Face to Face learning

The programme will be delivered through lectures, seminars, class discussions, case studies, field trips and class exercises.

Virtual / Distance and e-learning

The programme is delivered virtually through robust e-learning platforms that facilitate students’ interactions with self-instructional material such as study modules, multimedia prepared by lectures, online assessments and online interactive devices. The platforms also facilitate virtual student-lecturer interactions.

Blended learning

A combination of face-to-face and virtual learning.

Admission into the Diploma program will be subject to the general regulations of St. Paul’s University. Specifically, those intending to seek admission for the course will be expected to meet the following criteria:

• KCSE grade C+ with C- in the subject chosen for study.
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Teachers' Certificate (S1) or its equivalent from recognized institutions.
• KACE (A level) with a minimum two principal passes.
