Philanthropy Through Saint Paul’s Elimu Bora Run

June 15, 2026

Exercising Philanthropy Through SPU’s Elimu Bora Run

As a Christian ecumenical community, St. Paul’s University (SPU) is dedicated to the promotion of knowledge for the good of humanity and the glory of God. Part of this responsibility involves “walking the talk” as stewards who ensure students can live their dreams by staying in school.

The Elimu Bora Run is a flagship fundraising initiative that was realized after concerning trends of having bright students defer or drop out due to financial strain. We believe every learner deserves a chance to successfully achieve their academic goals. By participating, you assist us to reach our FY 2025/2026 target of KES 20,000,000 that will be channeled to the University Endowment Fund to provide lasting scholarship solutions.

The Multiplier Effect of Your Support

Your participation does more than just pay a bill; it transforms lives through:

  • Unlocking Potential: In many cases, students who cannot pay final school fees will have their certificates “locked”. Your registration and contribution help unlock a barrier to reaping fruits of years of hard work.
  • Lifetime Earnings: By helping a student graduate, you effectively increase their lifetime earning potential by 200-300%.
  • Household Stability: One educated child stabilizes their entire household by supporting siblings and improving the lifestyle of the parents.
  • Proven Success: This initiative builds on a successful walk held in February, which already helped many students remain in school thanks to the generosity of the staff, students, and sponsors.

Cultivating a Healthy Body for a Good Cause

While you run for others, you are also investing in yourself in many ways, that can sometimes remain unbeknownst to you. This may include:

  • Mental Well-being: Exercise triggers endorphins that boost energy and alertness. It also helps participants find a sense of achievement, identity, and social connection.
  • Physical Resilience: Regular runners show lower rates of knee and hip arthritis. Additionally, those with higher aerobic fitness possess a greater tolerance for climate-induced heat stress.
  • Community Spirit: Joining a team with friends or family provides a warm, encouraging atmosphere that reminds you that you aren’t alone in caring about the world.

Event Details & Packages

The Elimu Bora Run is versatile and inclusive for all age groups and endurance levels. It offers three optional stages of 5km, 10km, and 15km all set in the lush, high-altitude terrain of Limuru.

Registration fees help cover event costs, with the big share going directly toward paying school fees at SPU.

Below is a curated list of what that package entail for simplified decision-making.
