At SPU, student leadership isn\u2019t just encouraged it\u2019s expected. Every year, vibrant student council elections give students the power to choose their representatives. These elections are real-world leadership training grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates campaign with manifestos, engage in policy debates, and build coalitions all under the guidance of democratic values. Once elected, student leaders\u2019 work with administration to improve campus life and advocate for their peers. Its leadership in action and many of today\u2019s SPU alumni leaders started here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take the example of Gabriel, who served as Student Council President in 2021-2022. His administration spearheaded the establishment of a student mental health awareness week and launched a food bank initiative for needy students<em>. \u201cBeing entrusted with student voices was life-changing,\u201d he reflects. \u201cIt taught me how to listen, act, and lead with empathy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leadership journey doesn\u2019t stop at the elections. Student leaders are mentored throughout the year through leadership bootcamps, forums with the university management, and networking with alumni.
