The stage was set ablaze with talent by St. Paul's University Drama Club during the Kenya National Music Festivals held at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology from Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th August, 2023.
Presenting an array of diverse performances, the club showcased their exceptional skill, clinching victory in various categories and captivating the attention of the adjudicators and audience.
With a lineup of 7 captivating items, including both choral verses and solo performances, the Drama Club exhibited a level of artistry and dedication that set them apart. The Drama Club ladies were undoubtedly the stars of the choral verse category. Their performance dubbed "Kupaa" (Code 1132M) left a resounding impact, earning them the coveted first position trophy. The execution of harmonious melodies and precise choreography left the audience in awe as they showcased their vocal prowess and artistic synchronization. In another stunning display, the ladies repeated their success with "Paradise" (Code 1032M), securing yet again another first position trophy.
Male members of the Drama Club took the stage by storm with "Funza Suugu" (Code 1120M), a powerful choral verse performance that earned them an impressive second position. Their delivery was a testament to their dedication and artistry, leaving a lasting impression on all who witnessed their performance.
The solo verse category was equally thrilling. Lorraine Wangui's poignant rendition of "Uguuta" (Code 1201M) resonated deeply with the audience, propelling her to a well-deserved first position. Her voice conveyed emotion and mastery, standing out amidst strong competition. Stella Barasa's "Rumour Monger" (Code 1015M) secured a commendable fourth position, showcasing her unique talent and contribution to the Drama Club's success.
The gentlemen continued to shine with their performance dubbed "Zimwi" (Code 1139M) in the choral category, earning them a resounding first position. The ladies' presentation themed "Mulika" (Code 1134M) rounded off the club's performances, solidifying their second position standing. Their dynamic performance showcased their versatility and dedication to mastering a range of themes and styles.
